Plasmid pBCspAB–H16 carried the mesophilic phaC_H16 gene from C. nector H16; pBCspAB–Csp carried the thermophilic phaC_Csp gene from Cupriavidus sp. S-6. Others carried the chimera of the phaC_H16 and phaC_H16 genes or the mutants. The pBCspAB serial plasmids carried the thermophilic phaA and phaB genes of the thermophile Cupriavidus sp. S-6 to build the metabolic pathway for the provision of R-3-hydroxybutyryl-CoA; the pBH16AB serial plasmids carried the mesophilic phaA and phaB genes of C. necator H16.
