Requirements of the SrtC2 C-terminal transmembrane domain for surface assembly of type 2 fimbriae. Bacterial cells were immobilized on nickel grids, stained with α-FimA (A, C, E, G, I, and K) or α-FimB (B, D, F, H, J, and L) and goat anti-rabbit IgG conjugated to 12-nm (for anti-FimA) or 18-nm (for anti-FimB) gold particles.
