Whiskers indicate the 95% confidence interval of the means; outliers are given as dots. The negative value of mean R indicates that males received more grooming from females than they gave in return (mean R ± SE = −0.27). Males received more grooming from females in the mating season (mean R ± SE = −0.32±0.01) than that in the non-mating season (mean R ± SE = −0.18±0.02).
