First, for each of the three parameters, the superior performing cyclist was identified value was then utilized for normalization of the performance of the other cyclists, i.e. the performance of each of the other cyclists was calculated as a fraction of the superior performance, thus showing values < 1. For each subject, the ultimate performance factor was calculated as the mean of the normalized VO2max, Wmax and 5-min test mean-power performance values.
