Figure 2

Cross-Polarization OCT images of the growth of multi-species bacterial microcosms (rectangle area) on hyrdroxyapatite discs after A) 24 hours B) 31 hours C) 48 hours D) 52 hours. The scale bars are 500 μm in optical depth or roughly ~385 μm in biofilm depth. The scattering intensity of a biofilm in a rectangular area is integrated and normalized to produce the delta R parameter. The Delta R increased during biofilm growth.
