Low levels of PLS3 do not extend survival of smn−/− larvae. Transgenes that drive expression of PLS3 just in motoneurons, Tg(mnx1:PLS3), or ubiquitously upon heat shock induction, Tg(hsp70:PLS3), were crossed onto the smn−/− background.
