Functional annotations were obtained from the Rice Genome Annotation Project (Ouyang et al., 2007) and the number of entries in each grouping is indicated. Proteins predicted to be RBPs by the POGs/PlantRBP database (Walker et al., 2007) are represented in brown, while those newly identified as such are in green.
