Calpain 3 immunocytochemistry. Control and patient muscle [quadriceps (quad), gastrocnemius (gastroc) and diaphragm (dia)] labelled with NCL-CALP-2C4 antibody against epitopes encoded by CAPN3 exon 1. Calpain 3 expression is decreased in gastrocnemius compared with quadriceps, and not detected in diaphragm, corresponding to the severity of weakness in these muscles.
