Vibrio anguillarum strains carrying pNQFlaC4-lac::lux on the chromosome were grown to 5×108 cells ml−1 and serially diluted in a black 96-well plate. Cfu counts were determined for each culture. A bioluminescent image of the 96-well plate was taken using an IVIS® SPECTRUM system (Xenogen, Caliper Life Sciences) and photon units (photons sec−1 cm−2 steradian−1) emitting from each well were determined. Strains are designated by their mutation and mutation designations followed by a C are complemented.
