Reporter transgenes with CRM i1523, and En/Exd/Hth site-mutated forms, driving lacZ are indicated across the top. βgal expression is visualized in green, and En in red, using appropriate antibodies. Note that βgal expression driven by i1523 is mostly non-overlapping with En stripes, although there is some overlap in dorsal regions, and that βgal overlaps extensively with En when both binding sites are mutated (A1a-, A2a-mut), but not when either one alone is mutated (A1a-mut, A2a-mut).
