Effect of T-2 toxin on the colonization by Salmonella Typhimurium in pigs. Recovery of Salmonella Typhimurium bacteria from various organs and gut contents of pigs that received, during 23 days, blank feed (control group, white bars), feed contaminated with 15 μg T-2 toxin per kg feed (15 ppb group, grey bars) or feed contaminated with 83 μg T-2 toxin per kg feed (83 ppb group, black bars), respectively. Five days after inoculation with 2 × 107 CFU of Salmonella Typhimurium, the pigs were euthanized and the log10 value of the ratio of CFU per gram sample is given as the mean + standard deviation. Superscript (*) refers to a significant difference compared to the control group (p < 0.05).
