Effect of a perturbation on a dynamically
regulating model neuron. The neuron was initially active in bursts. At
the arrowhead, the extracellular K+ concentration in the
simulation was increased. The neuron initially depolarized but over
time regulated its conductances to return to its initial activity
patterns. [Reprinted with permission from LeMasson, G., Marder, E. &
