FIGURE 5.
Effects of pre-injection of an anti-RAGE antibody on the pulmonary metastasis of LLC cells. LLC-cell suspensions of 4 × 105 cells in 200 μl of DMEM were injected into a tail vein of C57BL/6 mice, and after 21 days the number of foci in the lungs was recorded. Six mice were used per group. Representative lungs from mice treated with a control buffer and anti-RAGE antibody (80 μg/mouse), which were injected into the tail of C57BL/6 mice 30 min before the injection of LLC cells, and metastasis was analyzed as described under “Experimental Procedures.” There was no significant difference between a control rat IgG and a buffer solution-only (data not shown). Measurement of the lung-based colonies of LLC cells is shown. Data represent the mean ± S.D. for two independent experiments. *, p < 0.01 versus control by one-way analysis of variance with Dunnett's adjustment.
