The sequence shown begins after a recombination breakpoint around position 262 and ends at position 1351 (an additional 3′ 354 bp of recombinant sequence are not shown). There is a “switch point” at around positions 676 to 680 (shaded numbers) so that ST13 and ST14 are very similar to the other three subspecies before this point but very different from them afterward, whereas ST16 shows exactly the opposite pattern. Five other recombination tests detected as recombinant the region in ST16 that is 3′ of the switch point (with slightly different start points, 772, as shown by the boldface letters, or 944). Two of these tests also identified a second region 5′ of the switch point (boldface italic letters). Three informative sites in this range were omitted.
