2 × 2 contingency table summarizing decisions versus truth in a two-class situation. Here FP^=S and FN^=U. The restriction that the number of tests found significant (V + S) be equal to the number of true significant ones (U + V) places a heavy restriction on the values of the table. In particular, we must have U + V = V + S and thus U = S, i.e. FP^=FN^.
