Representation of the fGn/fBm continuum. The continuum is characterized by exponents β ranging from −1 to 3, and by exponents α ranging from 0 to 2. White noise corresponds to β = 0 and α = 0.5, and Brownian motion to β = 2 and α = 1.5. Long-range correlations are considered to appear between β = 0.5 and β = 1.5. β = α = 1 corresponds to ideal 1/f noise.
