iaa16-1 produces fewer lateral roots than wild type. Emerged lateral roots of Col-0 (Wt), heterozygous iaa16-1 (+/−), homozygous iaa16-1 (−/−), axr2-1, axr3-1, slr-1, and iaa28-1 were counted 4 d after transfer of 4-d-old seedlings to media supplemented with either ethanol (Mock), 10 μM IBA, or 80 nM NAA (mean +/− SE; n ≥ 12).
