CLIC4 is nuclear in basal epidermis and is up-regulated in wounded epidermis and dermis. Skin from WT (A and B) and CLIC4NULL (C and D) mice was immunostained with CLIC4 monoclonal antibody 4 days after full-thickness wounding. A and C show the unwounded area, and B and D show the wound region. Skin sections from mice in the same experiment were immunostained for P-Smad2. Nuclear staining in the epidermis and hair follicles is detected in WT (E) and CLIC4NULL (G) resting skin, and nuclear p-Smad2 is increased in epidermis and dermis of wounded WT (F) and CLIC4NULL (H) skin.
