Enticing intact (sham) hungry rats with food strongly activated the frontal cortex (left column). This activation was impaired by a TMN lesion (right column), except for the IL. Lower graph compares the activation of three cortices in the sham and TMN lesioned rats. The naïve group corresponded to the circadian control, i.e., to rats fed ad libitum, not enticed and sacrificed at the same time during the day as the other groups (Valdes et al., 2006).
