Both NLRP3 and ASC are required for the antimicrobial response to Mabc infection in human macrophages. Human MDMs were either left untransduced or transduced with shNS, shNLRP3 or shASC (for 3 days) before addition of Mabc (moi=3). After infection, the cells were incubated for 3 days and then subjected to c.f.u. assays. Data are representative of nine independent experiments that yielded similar results.
