Diagram of the overall scheme of RING (Reconciliation ofIn silico/in vivomutaNt Growth) divided into two stages. In the top stage (Blue Box), the reconstruction of the genome-scale metabolic model and the single-gene mutant growth simulations from the S. pombe genome is performed. Also in this stage is the generation of the single-gene mutant knockout library which was imported from Kim et al. [23]. In the second stage (Red Box), the analysis and reconciliation of the discrepancies between in silico prediction and in vivo observation is performed in an iterative manner. Once all possible strategies in reconciling the differences between the in silico predictions and in vivo observations are exhausted based on current information and knowledge available, the end result is an updated genome-scale metabolic model.
