(a) Apoptosis of human acute monocytic leukaemia cell line (THP-1) cells incubated with or without 100 ng/ml (L100) or 1000 ng/ml (L1000) of recombinant human LIGHT [the name of which is derived from ‘homologous to lymphotoxins, exhibits inducible expression, competes with herpes simplex virus glycoprotein D for herpes simplex virus entry mediator, and expressed by T lymphocytes’], or 100 ng/ml of lipopolysaccharide (LPS) as a positive control. Apoptosis was measured by a WST-1 assay for cells incubated with culture medium without serum. Effects of LIGHT on Bcl-2 (b) and activated caspase-3 (c) expression in THP-1 cells incubated with or without 100 ng/ml (L100) or 1000 ng/ml (L1000) of rhLIGHT, or 100 ng/ml of LPS.
