Neurog2 confers ERK5-dependent pro-neural activity in SGZ-derived aNPCs. SGZ-derived aNPCs were infected with control retroviral and lentiviral vectors expressing eGFP only (A–D), lentiviral Neurog2 only (E–H), and lentiviral Neurog2 together with control retroviral shNS (J–M) or shERK5 (N–Q). One day after virus infection, cells were washed and then maintained in regular EGF- and bFGF-containing medium for 5 days before co-immunostaining for GFP (green) and various cellular markers (red) including β-III tubulin or Sox2 as indicated. The percentage of GFP⁺ cells that also express β-III tubulin or Sox2 were quantified (I and R). Scale bar in A represents 25 μm and applies to all images.
