Elevated prostaglandin E2 and reduced cysteinyl-leukotrienes (cysLT) in l/l mice in lung homogenates following intratracheal K.pneumoniae challenge. Wild type (WT) (open bars) and l/l (solid bars) mice were infected via the intratracheal (i.t.) route with K.pneumoniae. Lung homogenates were prepared from mice 4 (A and B) and 24h (C and D) after i.t. bacterial challenge and eicosanoids, cysteinyl-leukotrienes (cysLTs) and prostaglandin E2 (PGE2), and cytokines (IL-6, IL-10, IL-12, MIP-2, and TNF-α) were determined as mentioned in Materials and Methods. *P < 0.05 compared to WT levels at 4 and 24 hr after infection using a Student’s t-test.
