(A) FmtA^Δ27 at different protein concentrations and albumin and ovalbumin (15 μM) were incubated with cell wall (50 μg [100-μl final volume]) isolated from S. aureus RN220 in the presence of ¹⁴C-Gly (1 mM). (B) Comparison of the activity of FmtA^Δ27 to the activity of the FmtA^Δ27S127A mutant. The concentration of each of the two proteins was 15 μM.
