Cells with the indicated mini-Tn10 insertions were tested for the induction of β-galactosidase activity expressed from the lolA-lacZ fusion gene upon the induction of LolA(I93C/F140C). Exponentially growing cells (OD₆₀₀ of 0.2) were induced for LolA(I93C/F140C) expression by 0.2% arabinose. (C) After 2 h, β-galactosidase activity was measured.
