Methodology. The left panel shows a schematic of the physical set-up of the experiment. An inverted video monitor was positioned at 45º toward the participant, and a mirror was placed between the virtual environment and the monitor to reflect visual feedback to the user. The right panel shows a screenshot of the virtual environment used during experimentation. Participants were asked apply appropriate normal force to a virtual object (box) to drag it to a target at the right of the screen as quickly as possible without breaking it. Finger location was shown as a small white ball.
