What’s New Implications for Practice
 • Patients with PAD who smoke have earlier
   onset of claudication pain than patients with
   PAD who do not smoke.
 • Smoking cessation as part of the treatment
   plan for patients with PAD may aid in walking
   ability.
 • Patients with PAD who smoke have much
   poorer measures of health-related quality of
   life than patients with PAD who do not
   currently smoke.
 • Smoking cessation may be an important
   adjunctive therapy to improve quality of life in
   patients with PAD who smoke.
