Interaction of SALSA with complement proteins. MBL, M-ficolin, L-ficolin, H-ficolin, C1q, C4, and C3 (1 μg/ml) were coated on a plate followed by incubation with rSALSA (0.5 μg/ml) in either a Ca²⁺- or EDTA-containing buffer. SALSA bound strongly to MBL, but also binding to all three ficolins and C1q was observed. Only a weak interaction with C4 and C3 could be seen. In the presence of EDTA, no binding of SALSA occurred. The averages and standard deviations (SDs) of two experiments performed in duplicate are shown.
