In the absence of Ca2+, sNUCB1 effectively disaggregates amyloid fibrils within 15 min of the addition. Disaggregation persists even in samples withdrawn at 30 min and 60 min. In the presence of excess Ca2+ (3 mM), sNUCB1 does not disaggregate hIAPP fibrils. TEM analysis shows the presence of fibrillar aggregates at all monitored time points. Scale bars represent 200 nm.
