Gene expression can only be predicted if all predictors of the direct target and the residual model are used. If only miR-19b-1 is allowed as a predictor in the LARS model, the prediction is poor. In all subfigures, samples are in rows and genes in columns. Expression and predicted expression values were centered and scaled and color-coded with blue representing low and yellow high expression values. The order of genes and samples is the same for all sub-figures.
