PBS, phosphate buffered saline alone at pH7.0, else with protease inhibitor (+PI), or acid (pH5.0), or both. Activities of both enzymes were consistently highest with PBS alone at pH7.0. Activities of both enzymes fell steeply during 2–4 hours at room temperature, and they increased over 24–48 hours at room temperature, perhaps from bacterial proliferation.
