IFN-γ, interferon γ; MHC, major histocompatibility complex; PBMC, peripheral blood mononuclear cell; SHIV, simian–human immunodeficiency virus; SIV, simian immunodeficiency virus.

a

A sample was considered positive if the number of IFN-γ-secreting cells per well exceeded 50 cells per 1×106 mononuclear cells and if the number of positive IFN-γ spot-forming cells (SFC) was greater than the mean number of SFC found in the medium-only wells plus 2 s.d.. Data are reported as the number of IFN-γ SFC per 1×106 PBMC. For reporting purposes, the background number of IFN-γ SFC observed in medium-only wells was subtracted from the number of IFN-γ SFC of SIV peptide-stimulated wells.

b

Eight to nine weeks post-SHIV89.6 immunization.

c

MHC class I loci and alleles were typed by PCR. A dash (—) indicates no known alleles.

d

ND indicates that a sample was missing or results were not interpretable.
