Initial variables included in the model were race, ethnicity, sex, HIV status, residence in a high-risk zip code, incarceration history or current residence in alternative housing, and prior skin and soft tissue or MRSA infection.
High-risk zip code was defined as a zip code with high levels of individuals with a history of incarceration [17].
