HRT1 and HRT3 overexpression decrease IL1β-induced AC8 gene expression. Rat VSMCs were transfected with empty (mock), HRT1, HRT2, or HRT3 plasmids and treated for 48 h with IL-1β (1.5 ng/ml). A, total RNA was extracted and AC8 gene expression levels were analyzed using real time PCR. Results are expressed as a percentage of IL1β-treated cells and represent the mean ± S.E. of three independent experiments. *, p < 0.05.
