Densities of neurons (number of neurons/mm2) were quantified in darkfield photomicrographs of photoemulsion-dipped sections after in situ hybridization and expressed as % of controls ± SEM. Data for early intervals (24 h and 8 days) and late intervals after KA-induced SE (1 and 3 months) were pooled, respectively.
