Mice lacking hair follicles have a small, cutaneous C-fiber loss. A: β-Cat LOF mice have a lower C:A-fiber ratio in saphenous nerves than wild-type littermates, which is due to a decreased total C-fiber number (B). There is no difference between genotypes in the C:A-fiber ratio in the tibial nerve (C), nor is there any difference between total fiber counts (D).
