Loads of enterococci from Galleria larvae homogenates. Caterpillars were inoculated with 1.8×106 (±0.5×106) CFU of parental (HM1070, diamonds), mutant (ΔasrR, squares), and complemented (ΔasrR::asrR, triangles) strains. For each time point, homogenates of 10 alive larvae were plated for CFU count on selective agar plates. The ΔasrR strain was found to better colonize and persist in Galleria larvae compared to parental and complemented strains. Results represent means and standard deviations from at least three independent experiments.
