It has been suggested that the mammalian FIP200–Atg101 complex and the yeast Atg17–29–31 complex are functional counterparts (dashed boxed) although they do not show significant sequence similarities. None of these factors seems to be conserved in P. falciparum. The tag of locus in the P. falciparum genome is indicated in parentheses.
