The alphasatellite isolates obtained from cotton (including those not isolated in this study) are highlighted with colored text and indicated on the right. The alphasatellites labeled I to IV are discussed in the text. The alphasatellites associated with nanoviruses are indicated with red text and red branches. The numbers at nodes represent percentage bootstrap values (1000 replicates). Note that some alphasatellite in this tree are not monophyletic due to the use of the Clustal W algorithm for the alignment (the taxonomy of alphasatellites is based upon the Clustal V algorithm).
