IR spectra of known ascorbic acid and dehydroascorbic acid (structures shown in Figure 1) with Fe/Pd nanoparticles synthesized by reduction with ascorbic acid. The nanoparticle spectrum indicates both ascorbate ion (C=C bond) and dehydroascorbic acid (C=O bond) adsorb to the nanoparticle surface. (Ascorbate ion is present above pH 4.7)
