Retinal pericytes are injured by complement in the presence of an antipericyte antibody. Retinal pericytes were incubated with 2 μg/mL of anti-HLA ABC IgG for 30 minutes on ice. After washing, 2 × 105 of the antibody-sensitized retinal pericytes were incubated with 5, 10, and 20 μL NHS (A), 30 μL of NHS or the same amount of complement-depleted sera (B), and the cytotoxicity was assessed by measuring BCECF leakage.
