EHV-4 downregulates cell surface MHC-I molecules on equine cells only. Equine NBL-6 and FHK (A) and nonequine MDBK, Vero, and B78HC2 (B) cells were either mock infected or infected with EHV-4 and subjected to flow cytometric analysis. Histograms of MHC-I expression after detection with anti-MHC-I MAb (H58A) are shown. As controls, cells were incubated with irrelevant MAbs of the same IgG isotype. Viable cells (10,000) were analyzed for each sample. Results of one representative experiment are shown.
