The numbers of newly born neurons are proportionately increased after AS activity in the SGZ-GCL (A1) and the DH (B1). The bar chart in D1 compares percentages of DCX+ neurons that are located in the DH between the two groups. Note that, the percentage of DCX+ neurons that migrate into the DH are comparable between intact middle-aged rats and middle-aged rats that underwent AS activity.
