Motor function after MPTP was also assessed using a rotarod apparatus. At 8 days after the MPTP injection, PPARαWT and PPARαKO mice exhibited a significant motor dysfunction as indicated by a decrease in the time period on rotarod and by an increased numbers of falls (A and B). The absence of PPARα gene significantly increases the motor dysfunction induced by MPTP. PEA treatment blunted the motor dysfunction in PPARαWT mice but not in PPARαKO mice.
