The effect of time of day on levels of [125I]-α-bungarotoxin binding is brain region specific. [125I]-α-bungarotoxin binding was measured at 6 time points and 4 brain regions (n = 6–7 per brain region per time point). Results indicated that there is a daily variation in [125I]-α-bungarotoxin binding in the hypothalamus (p < 0.05) with maximal levels occurring between 2 hr before lights out and 2 hr after lights out. There was no effect of time of day in the remaining 3 brain regions. Data are represented as mean ± SEM.
