Photomicrographs of IL-1β (a, b, c, d) and IL-6 (e, f) in hippocampus (dentate gyrus) from a control (a, b, e) and epileptic patient (no. 5) (c, d, f). Only a weak IL-1β staining was found in control patient (a, b, e) in contrast to the epileptic patient (c, d, f). The staining was mainly confined to the neurovascular unit.
