Within-strain (grey boxes) and between-strain (white boxes) gene expression variances for transcripts which are not overlapped by any structural variant (No SV) and for those which are overlapped. Within-strain variance is due to environmental effects; between strain to environmental and genetic effects. The difference between the two variances is a measure of heritability. Six categories are shown: deletions (Dels), insertions (Ins), copy number gains (Gains), inversions (Inv), and complex rearrangements (Complex).
