Histological findings on hematoxylin-eosin stained sections 4 days after injection of AA-20S (Fig. 4a) and AA-20L (Fig. 4b) nanogels. An inflammatory reaction consisting of lymphocytes and macrophages was elicited with both types of nanogel, but the degree of inflammation (area with dense blue nuclei) was much greater for AA-20L.
