Roles of small RNA in allotetraploid formation. In allotetraploid formation, expression of small RNAs is changed. (a) Reduced repeat-associated siRNA would cause genomic instability and such re-synthesized F1 would be unviable. On the other hand, F1 with enriched siRNA would form stable allotetraploid. (b) Changes of miRNAs expression in F1 would induce diversity of the accumulation of target mRNAs. These transcriptional changes would induce phenotypic diversity in allotetraploid [157].
